i have raid and xr1000
by: Phil UK

well i'm on the fence with this one. I ride a Suzuki sv650s which is more of a 'head down' riding style and i find when i lean forward and tilt my head back(race/ride position) my shoulders lift the xr1000 helmet up slightly at the rear and causes my chin to almost rub against the inside of the helmet. My head measures 59cm which equates to a large(which is what my new xr1000 is) but my older shoei raid which i've had for about 6yrs is a medium(but has worn in so much it fits still). The raid doesn't have this problem so much, i think the height from the top of the inside of the helmet to its skirt is shorter than the xr1000 and hence its slightly noisier but also is a little bit further from my shoulders so its not affected as mcuh.
Im basing this on the RAID not the RAID 2. Raid is noisier and mists up alot worse than the xr1000.
The xr1000 is stable in the wind, no buffering, but i just can't get the fit right, i've got standard size cheek pads in, have tried thicker to make the fit tighter but that just made me look like a chipmunk, lol.I've put a small amount of padding in the top of the xr1000 to make it sit a little higher on my head(ie increase the padding thickness inside the top of the helmet)and increase forward vision when leaning forward. But to be honest my old raid just fits me personally much better than the xr1000.
