I bought this helmet due to looking on the sharp rating system and seeing that it has been apointed a 5* award. Excellent I thought. I went out and bought one. It was great until it rained. The so called ventilation holes in the chin guard dont do their job, which is to demist the visors. Also due to lack of thought when designed, when it rains the seal along the top of the visor leaks water down the inside of the visor. This not only annoys you but it helps mist up the inside of the visor even more. When it does rain due to the shape of the visor the water doesn't run off properly. When on a long ride in which it rained for a good 95 miles the visor became so misted up and coated in rain I had to drive either tilting my head back to look through the only clear bit of the visor, or drive along with the visor completely open. This isn't what I would say is ideal when on a dual carriage way. Whenever I hear that it going to be a windy day I decide not to wear this helmet as due to it not having enough padding around the ears the wind curls up into the helmet making it completely unbearably loud. This is not only irritating but it means that you cant hear your surroundings, let alone your engine. If you decide to have a breather and open the visor, when you have the visor all of the way up the bottom of the visor is right in your line of sight as the visor cant go any higher. So in the rain you either have the visor down misted up or you have the visor up tilting your head back just so you can see where you are going.
A good thing about this helmet is that it has an integrated sunvisor. This is useful as you don't have to carry around a pair of sunglasses and you can slide it up and down in an instant. One thing that they could do to improve the sun visor would be to spend a bit of money on it and make it polarised, as it is currently just a piece of darkened plastic that does remove any glare from other cars or the road.
This helmet is a good helmet if you want to look good and don't mind if you get deafened when going over 40mph. Personally I would recommend this helmet only for a spare and wouldn't use it all of the time.
It is a cheap and safe helmet, an introduction to biking helmet, maybe?
